Default Wheel Guide (pics)

I posted this in the 987 forum, but figure it applies here as well.

I've been experimenting a lot with wheels on the Boxster over the last couple months. Just wanted to share what I've learned thru trial and error.

The car is lowered using Eibach springs.

I will try and update with more info as I get it.

First wheels I used:

The first wheels I tried were Champion RG5's. These are 19's with 993/996 offset. The rears are 9.5" - 10" wide I believe. Fronts were 8.5".

Front wheels bolted on with no spacers and standard size lugs.

I used a 1" spacer and 50mm lug bolts (longest I could find) in the rear. The bolts were still a little short (could only get about 5 turns) but worked. I put over 1k miles on this setup.

Tires were 235/35/19 front and 265/35/19 rear.

Second set of wheels I used:

The next set of wheels I tried were also Champion RG5's, but from a twin turbo. These are also 19's with 993/996 widebody offset. The rears are 10.5" - 11" wide I believe. Fronts were 8.5".

Front wheels bolted on with no spacers and standard size lugs.

I used a 7mm spacer and 37mm lug bolts in the rear. I put over 500 miles on this setup. No rubbing.

Tires were 235/35/19 front and 285/30/19 rear.

I didn't originally try these as I assumed they would be too wide. As a side note; these are not the most aggressive wheels made for wide body 911's.. I tried a set of Avus wheels from my old TT which were half an inch wider in the rear and they did not work. This wheel and tire setup is as aggressive as you can go.

Third set of wheels I used:

The next set of wheels I tried were HRE 542R's. These are also 19's with 996 offset. The rears are 10" wide I believe. Fronts were 8.5".

Front wheels bolted on with no spacers and standard size lugs.

I used a 50mm spacer and 50mm lug bolts in the rear. Just installed these, but seem to work well.

Tires are 235/35/19 front and 265/35/19 rear.
