Default Exhaust systems: Which to avoid?

First post; I'm looking for advice on an exhaust system. I'm partial at this point to the Remus based on the comparisons I've seen.

Is there a manufacturer whose product is junk at any price? For example, the Agency Power Exhaust has a nice note, even though I realize the performance claims are dubious at best.

What about tips to begin with. I have an 08 S and I'm not real fond of the stock ones.

I'm about to track the car in earnest after a few laps at Thunderhill last summer.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

I don't know if any are junk, but I would stay away from any no-name exhausts being sold on ebay. If you go with any of the big names: Remus, Fabspeed, AWE, Borla, Capristo, etc. you shouldn't have any problem. I don't think there is a huge performance difference from one aftermarket exhaust to another (most of the gains are from removing the secondary cat and having a straight-thru exhaust - so most of them are pretty similar).

I bought the NHP tips (black chrome) from Maxspeed-Motorsports.com and like them alot - gives a more aggressive look to the rear; they are also reasonably priced compared to some other tips (e.g. Fabspeed, Porsche, etc).

From what I've been reading recently, avoid speedART - severely lacking in QC.

I've had many problems with my Milltek. Good power, but it rubbed my droplink on the passenger side, it rubbed my axle on the passenger side, and it now just started rattling inside the passenger's muffler. My car is lowered 1" with PSS9's. I just ordered a Remus today but they are on a boat right now and the container will be in the states mid April.

I'm from planet9, thanks. I have a fabspeed system on my car and will be testing out the gen2 Remus soon. Perhaps you missed this 7 page thread on the groupbuy and its issues? You know...actual owners and actual experience.

I'll save you some trouble - skip later into the thread where people realize the pipes are incorrect lengths and require cutting for anything to fit.

I read those nine pages about the SpeedArt group buy on P9 a few weeks ago, and decided definitely not to get one.

I think I will get a B&B for my CS. I've had a B&B on my E39 M5 for ten years - great fit, no problems, and sounds like the German version of NASCAR.

it's best to keep stock exhaust. porsche exhaust is one of the best designed sub components of the whole car' it is very hard to improve upon it without losing other benefits.

I just installed the DREAM1 'Y' connector to the stock exhaust of my 2006 987 S. I'm thinking of adding the Agency Power exhaust. What are the 'other benefits' I will lose?

I went with the FVD. I really like the sound of the exhaust and the service was top notch from Rhonda. I'd buy from them again without hesitation.

I've also had problems with my Milltek...same rubbing issues as you (I'm lowered on JIC coil overs) as well as several broken cat converters. The system vibrates and breaks the mounts and then cracks the cats. Not good.
I have a Borla on order.
