Default boxster S 05 vs. 06

I am still learning about these cars. I understand the IMS ticking bomb concerns and the upgraded replacement parts available. I believe there is a modest upgrade at some manufacturing point in 06 for the IMS.

My question is: Is there a significant difference in the model year to justify the newer model? The 05, was a single owner, has 5,000 fewer miles, but car fax shows minor left rear accident. Car was a trade at a chevy dealer.

The 0-6 is 2 owner car, 5,000 greater miles. Private owner

Asking prices are very close within $1,000 dollars, but 06 being more.

Thanks.

My research points toward the '06 vs. the '05 - stay away from the first of any model year, including the 987. Accident is a big deal - No telling what the damage is - in any event - pay for a PPI - best money ever spent. And don't be in a hurry or you will overpay. Sorry to be so direct. The issue is not rhe mileage but the upkeep - these cars can handle being driven.

I agree with the above post. 5K extra miles is no big deal but the accident is. These cars are never the same after they've been walloped.
