Default Porsche Sports Exhaust

Anyone has it installed on an S with sports, chrono? How significant is the sound and given the price are there better aftermarket alternatives that would have the car sound as it should be if there were no noise reduction limittations on the manifacturer?

PSE sounds great. No drone. Great fit. Nothing hanging below the rear bumper, like some aftermarket stuff. Bypass the interphase with SC, and have it in the loud (sport) mode at all times.

Sport exhaust for my 2004 C4S was $2400. Now that I have it, would I spend $2400 on it? Resoundingly NO. I like the fact that there's an "on/off" button for it so that you can quiet it down. But it's not even that loud to warrant the button! It's just not loud enough or throaty enough to warrant $2400. I think you are better off spending your exhaust money elsewhere.

Did a Fabspeed aftermarket in my 09 Boxster w/sport chrono. PSE was not available yet and too costly for the gain $2600-$3000 installed. So far no drone; great sound, nothing hanging low off the rear diffuser and less weight and good high quality manufacture. Cons...always on (no button switch) but doesn't bother me that much as it does some and have to take it off when I sell the car one day so will need to replace my OEM one. Otherwise its a personal decision and ones own research will make the decision for you.

I like the on/off button. It sounds "throatier" when its on. Its lounder but its not obnoxiously loud. For me, there is a volume level and sound that once it goes beyond, it just sounds silly and becomes annoying on longer drives. Is it worth $2,500...I guess thats something only you can decide.

I have a stock exhaust on a Ferrari 328, which is plenty loud for me and sounds great. But I know some guys that put Tubis, Borla, and other aftermarket exhausts on, and in my opinion they detract from the car making it seem like a caricature of itself. But I guess to each his own.

If I were going aftermarket I'd look for a quality exhaust system, but not the loudest one available.

Best regards,
Dino
