Default ordered a stripper!

2.9 Cayman w/PDK, Sport Chrono, LSD, fire extinguisher, floor mats, yellow seat belts

having read the threads on PDK, driven the PDK at Porsche Sport Driving School (2 times, going again March) and having been cajoled by "f4 plt" I've taken the path less traveled and opted for a PDK

certainly goes "against the grain" for a lot of purists but figure you're never too old to learn new tricks, only sports car I ever owned without a manual transmission was an early 80s Corvette in a year when they didn't make any manual transmissions

opted for a non-S to provide a better learning environment, don't really need a lot of horsepower to learn how to drive well, drive fast

looking forward to learning how to make the PDK car go fast, now waiting....

So I "cajoled" you, you will enjoy it and yes PDK is quick. I'm just not sure that speed yellow is as quick as Carrera White, but we shall see.

A base model will teach you to drive, because the "S" cars will be difficult to catch in the DEs, so you will have to work harder. It will also save you 2-4 mpg. The base or the "S" are both great cars, have fun.

I too have a 2.9 PDK Cayman, now with 7K+ miles, zero problems. Mine's off the lot, a stripper too, with 18 inch wheels though and a couple of other things.

It's really amazing how fast this car is becoming as it's broken in--especially noticeable between 5K miles and now (7K miles)! I don't even have sports chrono. I was thinking about doing an after-market flash for it, but now I'm not sure I need it. The car is plenty fast and the PDK has "learned" my aggressive driving style...

JSF101,

You'll LOVE IT. Especially the Yellow Seat-Belts! Don't worry about the Base Vs. S deal. You'll have PLENTY of power and YES, you'll love the PDK! My wife (it's her car) and I are also PSDS grads several times over. Just added an '08 S in Speed Yellow w/Yellow Trim and Belts on Black w/6-Speed to our 'stable'. What a trip. With all that Yellow inside I can't tell if I'm riding inside or outside of the car... it all seems as one quick Yellow 'Envelope'!

Barry
