Default Radio whine

Had my dealer install what he called an IPod adapter on my '05 987 some time ago. Never used it much, but just started using it. I now get a high pitched whine that changes w/ engine RPM, when using an MP3 palyer. Basically what they installed is a RF aux. input that plays thru a radio freq. Any ideas??? Back in the old days, this type of noise was usually fixed w/ a choke coil, but no one seems to have heard of them.

They probably routed wires wrong so you have power near sound. If you take it back to the dealer they should fix it for free.

Most of these FM based transmiters suffer from interference. In your case probably from the ignition wires. I don't think its worth the hasstle, as sound quality will never be very good in the best of cases.

Orc, thanks for the info. I had thought this would be better than the wireless transmitters I have tried. They did not seem to have this whine, but faded in & out. Do you think that changing the location of the power wire might help any???
