Hi Folks,

I went to my local porsche garage today and sat in a new cayman s which was fitted with an Alcantara steering wheel.

Here is a photo;

Does anyone know of a website (preferably the UK) where i can buy one of these steering wheels?

Porsche Part number would be useful, can anyone help???

Many Thanks and must appreciated.

I'm sure you can get them through your Porsche dealer, but expensive. Unless you have a sport steering wheel already you will also need a different air bag module then what comes with the standard wheel. Example the leather covered sport steering wheel is an aprox. $300 option when you order a Cayman. Mine did not come with the sport wheel and I wanted it so bottom line it was about $1300 for the sport steering wheel, different airbag and install. Hope this gives you a ballpark idea.

Here's a link to a source in the U.S.: Suncoast Porsche Parts - you could email them for a quote on shipping to the UK and including the airbag if needed.

Suggest you contact Gert Carnewal at www.carnewal.com
He's in Belgium and very helpful. Shorter ship distance from there to you.

Best,

My son had an Alcantara steering wheel on his BMW and the finish wore off in about 50,000 miles. I hope that Porsche's holds up better.

The wheel is actually the wheel from the gt3, but since the 987 and 997 share many parts its interchangeable. If you already have a sport wheel you have two options , either buy the wheel shell from porsche for about 700 pounds or get your existing wheel retrimmed by a coach trimmer for about 200. If you have the triangular airbag wheel , you can get the wheel trimmed but not re profiled by K baggs trimming. See the thread on www.boxa.net about this .
