Cayman S Pricing? Help!!
Fremont Porsche I haven't been to and don't know what's on that lot.
Carlsen running big ads every Sat. and Sun. in SF Chronicle car ads section. "demo" cars are mentioned frequently.
Stead Porsche up in Walnut Creek might have some good deals though like Fremont Porsche I haven't been by that place in months. Haven't been to Burlingame Porsche either for a while. Nor Porsche of Santa Clara.
No doubt though all are sitting on lots of unsold inventory.
In short, I think it is a buyer's market for a Porsche nowadays.
A brand new '09 under invoice may be a stretch, but I'd offer invoice, or what passes for what is claimed to be invoice and I wouldn't go up by much. (In '02 I used 87% of MSRP not including delivery and subtracting any dealer markup as "invoice" price.)
A new '08' or even a new '07' should be around 10% to 20% under invoice respectively as a starting point.
Remember, price is not fact, only an opinion.
Do not assume "demo" means demo. The car can be bought and put into service by the dealer to permit it to lower its asking price. Several years ago when I was shopping a new Porsche I would come across lots of "used" Porsches with sometimes just factory delivery miles. Same thing only "used" was used instead of "demo". No doubt in a couple of years, "used" will be back in vogue.
Check brake disc and tire condition of "demo" cars. If brakes show signs of heavy use and tires scrubbed chances are car was a demo. But if miles low, real low, and brakes show no signs of any use... Demo in name only.
Sincerely,
Macster.
