It's been three long years since I was last in a Porsche...just picked an '05 987S
Black/black and it is sweet! Like an old friend that is so familiar...I had an '01 986S for a couple of years and was in a '03 996C4S through '05 before the marriage ended as did the C4S. It's great to be back...
I hear you. My 987 is a keeper. It's the first car that I've had in a long time, where I didn't start lusting after some other car after about six months of ownership. To top it off I've been averaging 24.4 MPG according to the on board computer. Granted that my driving is 80% country and 20% city, but that's still not bad in my book. Moreover, there's nothing like top down driving in a Porsche. I was really infatuated with the awesome handling of the Cayman S, but deep down I knew that I had to have a vert.
Bottom line is that Porsches are about the only cars that I can enjoy driving without abusing speed limits. I use to own an E46 M3, and it was a great car but I really didn't enjoy it unless I pushed it hard.
