Price check, please!
My brother-in-law is looking at '07 Cayman (non-S) in Silver, with tipronic transmission. Its got approx 1100 miles on it, but is being sold as a brand new car, since its never been sold before. The dealership and my brother-in-law have gotten to a price of $48,900 for it. Is that a good price? Also, any gotchas to be aware of?
From what I can tell, the Caymans have been pretty good overall, and he's looking for a daily driver, not a hi-po racer. Any advice?
Regards,

I think that is too much. My local dealer said they are discounting '08's at 10%+. I would have to know what your MSRP is to see the discount too. As an example, I got my '07 brand new for $48K, it listed at $53k, in August '06.
MSRP is $55,900. I was thinking that with th emileage and current market conditions, he could do better, but want the advice of folks that have actually bought one.
Anyone care to suggest a price he should offer? (I realize this is a somewhat difficult thing to address, as y'all don't have all the details and this *is* the internet... but I'll take my chances!

I bought a new 2008 Cayman last week in Greenwich CT...the MSRP was close to $57,000 and the price was $51,000 and change......Basalt Black over Sand Beige with great options......it had 6.1 miles on it and just arrived in March
The "new" 2007 models with miles often have a in service date.....when the warranty has been started, then PCNA gives the selling dealer a rebate of $3,000 or more.......
My advice would be to price it as a used Porsche.....$45,000 or a tad higher
Good Luck

The car may not have been sold before but it is not a new car despite what the dealer says. Find out about when the warranty was punched and if this car was used as a demo/ service loaner. I would also check to see how many/if there were over revs on the engine. At the price your brother was quoted, you could do definitely do better...I would think mid 40's. Best of luck!

My little Beach Bubby. Sometimes the drive is more fun than the waves. I often pop over the hill to the beach via Bolinas-Fairfax Rd., which is hell in an SUV, but utter bliss in the Cayman.
