Default Boxster redesign in 2010?

http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php...55&Main=388195

Road and Track speculated that the Boxster is due for a redesign in MY2010. Beyond what is in the article, any other guess as to what the power or direction it would take?

I had read someplace that Porsche will be doing a joint-platform with Audi (I think it was an edition of Automobile magazine..) .. I forget if it was the next gen boxster they were talking about or a completely new vehicle.

Either way, the article seemed to indicate that it would be a completely new vehicle from the ground up with shared technology. I believe both the Audi and Porsche varients would be mid-engine, with Audi being AWD (like the R8). IIRC, it was the Audi R4 http://www.autospies.com/news/Audi-R...he-Works-9402/

ahh .. here's a quote from a very reliable source ;-)

"As an exchange it's also said that the rumored Audi R4 (starting possibly 2010), another sports car from Audi, is inheriting some technology from the next generation Porsche Cayman and Porsche Boxster which shall arrive 2012. "

The 2010 Audi mid-engined sports car is supposed to be powered by a turbo-4 with Quattro AWD, while the Porsche Boxster will remain a flat-six. I read in excellence the new Boxster is supposed to look like a "baby" Carrera GT (since that car has been discontinued). Maybe there will be an LSD option for the new Boxster models??!!

Will the redesigned 2008/2009 models have direct injection in the current 3.4-L flat sixes?

From the R&T article:

"All that being said, there is no doubt the Boxster - which has been on the market with virtually the same clothes since 1997 (other than a minor freshening in 2005, in which Porsche reclassified the Boxster from its original 986 designation to the 987) is due for a redesign."

987 was a minor freshening? Are they kidding?

American car magazines are about as bad as American car tv shows. Utterly terrible in every way. Those rags are as unreadable as the shows are unwatchable.
