Default Clutch Options

So apparently my spirited grocery-getting has put me in the market for a new clutch, all before 19,000 miles.

What are some of the options that you folks have seen out there with regards to aftermarket clutches? If I'm getting the clutch done, I may as well see about a lightened flywheel as well.

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket clutches/flywheels? Getting ready to email GMG about this, just wanted to get a feel from 'the board' to see how the other fellas are handling it.

Cheers,

Matt

Why on earth do you want a lighter flywheel? The common answer is more power,--but it does come at a price. If you're going through a NORMAL clutch in 19,000 miles you're going to get far worse service life out of a lightened one. For a daily driver ("...spirited grocery getting...") you don't need to go that direction. Perhaps you need to learn how to drive a stick! A rougher idle and possible warpage of the flywheel are in your future.

edgy, your screen name seems quite appropriate...

mbodo, i went with a LWF in my 993, and loved it. i am not sure if there is such an option for the boxster (986 or 7), but if there is, and you have to put in a new clutch anyway, i think you should go for it. for the 993 the LWF was no less durable than the standard DMF. in fact, the LWF was the standard RS part for the 993.
