Default How many miles should be on a new Boxster on delivery?

Just ordered a white base Boxster with sand interior. It's being shipped from CA to AZ next week. It's not a demo. IMO the car should have less than 40 miles. Anything beyond that could be a problem for me.

Am I wrong?

Three miles on delivery before the Dealer performs their pre delivery inspection, and that may add another five miles or so. A car that hasn't been test driven should have around ten miles. My recollection is that my car had around 12 miles on the odometer when I purchased it.

I can remember seeing one car with 17 miles on it right off the truck, still with the protective cladding and everything. Seems like most are around 5-8. 3 is pretty rare. Add 5 miles during the PDI test drive and maybe a few more if its been sitting on the lot for a few weeks.

I only saw one 987 with the protective cladding still intact and obviously before the PDI, and it registered 3 miles on the odometer. So I used that car as my model but it could be an aberration. A Porsche Service Manager told me that they add about 5 miles during the test drive associated with the PDI.

Porsche Does do random road test from cars right off the production line. So the 17 miles would have been from that. Not that uncommon.

mine had 40 on it when i bought it . it had probably previously been test driven and it came from their storage lot which was about 3 or 4 miles down the road . under 50 or so is no big deal .

the ycome off the truck with 15-20 all the time sometimes more , after the car is moved from lot to lot and the pdi test drive and fueled up 40-50 isnt unheard of.
If the car was in stock sitting for 6 months its not uncommn to be re test drove to assure everything is still working

It all depends on how much they played around with it at the docks!

It also depends if the dealer is small or large. if they are a small dealer and lets say only keep 3 to5 caymans on the lot, then you should expect to get one with a little miles on it. Everyone is correct though, typically you will see 3-5 miles right off the truck and 8 to 10 before PDI, after that sales can use the car for various things, like a demo drive, if a customer is intrested in the car and then changes his mind, but it still would be classified as a NEW car and not a demo unit. For some reason987c, 987, 997 seem to fall into this realm and 997s,tt, gt3, gt3rs. If you are purchasing one of those units I would question mileage in the excess of 20.
