there is a similar lease special that was just introduced here in the states for $589 mth. i believe it is a 10k mile a yr lease with about $5k down .

thats what i read to, but the lease was based on a 70k car

That's Porsche for you. A few months ago my salesman called me to tell me about a "low" interest rate being offered by Porsche. My recollecton was that it was around 6.5 % or about a point higher than at my local Credit Union. I just love those Porsche deals.
