Default Valentine 1 Radar Detector Hardwire? Who has done one?

I finally got around to hardwiring my A8, and it sure is nice.

I just got another hardwire adapter from Valentine, for the Boxster. Has anyone here done one? Where did you tap power, and how did you route the power (phone) cable? Suggestions?

I normally mount my V1 low, in the center of the windshield, just above the dash.

Here's one courtesy of the cayman club:

You'll find many great articles there that applies to Caymans as well as Boxsters. Join in!

Excellent! That's a great post there.

FYI, there exists little brass clips that give you a spade-type electrical quick connect. I'm not keen on just wrapping wire around the lug of the fuse, per that procedure.

Here's what they look like, with link for more info:

Fuse Tap ATC Spade

I think I got a pack at NAPA.

I did a pretty clean installation on my 997S Cab... See the link:

I really can't endorse an installation in which you have a power wire sticking out of the fuse array.

Why not, edgy? Ever looked at the back of a fuse array? What do you think is sticking out of it?

That said, I don't mind using one of the insulation displacement type power taps.

It must be my electrical upbringing. It just bugs me to see a wire sticking out of the FRONT of a fuse box.

(I'm in the electronics business and that would just never be mil-spec compliant!)

:-)
