I just want to point out that the 997 in the test had 325 bhp and the 987S was the 3.2L with 280BHP. The advantage was 45BHP!
the 997 , however, is also more heavy, and this minimizes its power to weight ratio advantage...also, i had a987s and then bought a 997S cab....the 987S has better handling and feels lighter, the 997S has a better clutch feel and smoother , shorter shifter, and of course the 997S has a great deal more low end torque and is more powerful and faster.......i think the bosxter has at least as ridge a platform as the 997 if not stiffer..as far as engine sound goes, i would say its just about a toss up...the 997s is throater but the 987s as a better tonal quality to it and sounds less flatuent....the 997 is bigger and more comfy inside and i would perfer it for everyday commuting and longer trips...but at 40 $ less, you could buy a 987S and a very nice everyday 335i bmw as a daily driver
