I mentioned taking them off because they are a means of weight loss that everyone over looks. If you are trying to get the car down as light as possible that would be something to do. If you would feel more comfortable with them then scratch the idea. It is a judgement call of the owner/opperator of the car.

Titanium exhaust! ;-)

Also don't forget ceramic brakes offer much much weight savings, and if you track your car alot the price is justifiable.

Don't forget the driver's spare tire!

But seriously: go to a very cold place with an air compressor, an air-chisel, and goggles. Remove the entire interior and carpet and chisel out the coldness-solidified sound-deadening tar. I did this to an early RX-7 race car project, got ~30 pounds out in an hour. Of course, then you have to prime and paint the unibody interior because while the air-chisel is brutally effective, it's not gentle.

I could definately use some weight loss as the shadow of my a$$ weighes 35 lbs... Oh... Wrong weight loss... Sorry!!! WAIT If I lose 75-80lbs that will definately improve my power-to-weight ratio...
