My sequence of events ...

3 weeks ago ... test drive in Basic Cayman 2.7. Fell hopelessly in love within about 500 yards.

2 weeks ago ... made the slightest mention of selling my 964 on a chat forum, attracted a buyer by return, bit of negotiation, and the car was gone!

1 week ... another test in a 2.7 Cayman, this time for an hour and 30 miles of open, untrafficed hill roads, utterly, utterly entranced. Wrote my deposit cheque for a Cayman 2.7. Guards red, alcantara seats, almost no options, 17" wheels.

Oct 2006 ... with any luck, Herr Porsche will build my new toy.

Watch this space.

Boy, I know how that feels. Julie and I were literally trying to figure out how we could re-mortgage the house, etc. to be able to pay for the Cayman. Fortunately (for our bank account), better sense prevailed. But I look forward to the day when I get my first Cayman.

Keep us posted!

You have a nice little collection of cars. Putting yourself into even the slightist bit of financial strees for a vehicle is a horrible idea. I love my car but I would never put my house on the line for it.

Agreed jsephla! ..but that Cayman was the most tempting Porsche I've ever driven. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed.

I owe my "collection" to my indecisiveness, quite frankly. I love this, but maybe I'll love that one better?
