Talking May be joining your ranks!

My wife and I have decided that we need a fun car for the two of us, definitely a convertible, and just stopped by our local Porsche dealer today. They had a quite loaded, really gorgeous black Boxster S sitting on the showroom floor, stickered at $66,900. My friend is the main Porsche salesman there, and told me that if I wanted it, I could have it for $60K even, plus taxes & tags. It has PASM, 19" wheels, sport chrono, tan leather with the adaptive seats, and Litronics headlights. What do you think, buy it? I told him I'd let him know on Monday.

I guess you’re looking for an opinion on the price. There has been hardly any price talk around here lately but I’ll give you my take.

Whenever friends are involved I usually like to offer my hand and never ask for a favor unless needed. Better to give than receive. After all, this is what friends are for. So, on that note I think you can pay the price he offered and feel good about it.

Then there is the pure value consideration. Boxsters take early depreciation hits, Boxster S sales are down considerably this year, plus the 07 model is arriving soon with the more powerful engine. I think the car you describe could be had for at least $10K off sticker when the new ones arrive in the showrooms and $12K off near year end. I think the time is at hand for bargain buying.

Good luck. Let’s hear what you do.

For somewhere in the mid 60's (maybe lower) you can have a low mileage (<10,000 miles) 05' 997. For me, I'd rather have a Carerra, even if it is used. You have to go of course with what you want.

I say go for it. $6900 off isn't bad as long as you don't mind that the 2007 has more power.

Yep I did! Just brought it home tonight & we (wife & I) put about 75 miles on it. Perfect car for an old fart like me to cruise around in.
