Default Oil Usage

Wanted to hear from others about how much oil you are using on your 987's. Mine is currently at 9500 miles, I changed early at 4k and again at 8k. I seem to be using approx 1/4 plus quart per 1 k miles. I do not remember my earlier Boxsters using much if any oil between changes. The electronic gauge does seem to be very sensitive to oil level. I also have been driving this one quite hard at times and regularly get it up in the rpm's. And yes mobil 1 and OEM filters at both oil changes.

I have 9500 miles as well, and all I can say is it depends upon the driving style I suppose. Had the oil changed @ 7500 miles, have added 1/4 quart since then. Before the first oil change, I think it drank nearly a quart and then some.

I have 10,300 and did an oil changed at 7500 with Mobil 1. Never had to add any oil even with a track day.

I've added a 1/4 quart in about 3K miles. Hard to tell for sure though as the electronic gauge shows full at times and a bit overfull at others.

It is just hard to trust the oil level gauge and not have a back up dipstick. I guess it is a good thing that the motor holds as much oil as it does. I still feel that I am using more oil than I would like to see.

Any tips for the oil fill cap? I have small fingers and still struggle to get it back on tight.
