The 13 hp gain from a restrictor plate removal is indeed exceptional, however one of the prime methods of reducing hp on race cars is to reduce the intake inlet opening size. That or adding weight is one of the most common methods utilized to "level" the playing field. If there was nothing to it they wouldn't do it.

 

yes, but the restrictor is so far away from the intake inlet tio make a difference

 

My 3.4L 996 engined boxster put down 280 hp at the rear wheels on the same dyno at imagine auto.
