Default When will the MY07 3.4L Boxster S hit the US market?

Hi,

Does anyone know when will MY07 3.4L Boxster S arrive in the US. I've hear that it will be introduced in Europe this summer, and will be available in the showrooms by September.

Thanks

I've seen posts on several boards indicating they have strong evidence suggesting 3.4L will not be introduced in the Boxster, some suggest never (with the current offerings). These people seem to indicate they have reliable "sources" within the automotive group both state-side and in Germany.

Would be nice, though! Too bad you can't convince "Dieter the engine assembly line guy" to "accidentally" put a 3.4L from the cayman into the boxster. Actually it would be Sven if these things are still made in the Netherlands or Finnland or wherever they were for 2005 & 2006.

I havent heard anything about it, but you never know. I'd be a little surprised (in a good way) if they did, though, because that could make the Boxster S faster than the Cayman S and as fast as the base 911, unless they also switch out to the taller Cayman gearing. I'd love to see the Boxster with a larger engine...esp a 3.8, but Porsche seems intent on limiting power on these cars.

Agree it would be nice to see this, but Porsche would be crazy to do so...it would totally cannibalize 911 cabrio sales...

I heard that the Boxster will also be bumped up from 2.7 to 3.0.

Since we're speculating, my vote is that there will be a slight increase in power for a mid-model run in 2008, where the entire Porsche lineup will get a 5% bump.

Don't think you'll see the Boxster match the Cayman on power. That would completely undermine their already struggling value proposition.

.. sheesh, while we're at it, 2008 will see the 3.6L TT motor in the Boxster, and the 3.8L TT in the cayman.
