Let me get this straight. Are you guys saying it's almost as easy to go from 2-R as it is from 2-3? As lowside67 mentioned it's virtually impossible to do in a 996 and 986. On the 987S and Cayman I tested I thought I noticed the same kind of notch going into reverse. Will keep my eye on that the next time I drive it. I am vigilant of reverse on 3, 4, 5 and 6 to 1. Even then, the reverse notch offers considerable resistance.

I know in my 91 964 you could unbolt the seats and actually move them to a farther back set of holes. Is this possible in the 987S?

Ha! That's one of the reasons I refuse to buy a 997 -- the PCM screen is standard. I just don't think a nav screen belongs in a sports car!

Things like the nav screen and the hideous wart should be left as options...

Complaints
1. Ride hight is a little high...wheel gap is kindy silly, give us the european ride hight
2. The shifter throw is a little long, especially for the 2-3 shift
3. Stock steering wheel is kindy skinny

I'm starting to think that most 987 owners (except for me) actually have something to do on Friday nights. There seems to be a lot of activity on the 997 boards on Friday nights tho .. hmmmmm.

If I could change anything, it would be the compatability issues in the electronics that are found within the same model and model year. Having just performed a "self" navigation installation (bought the parts, Porsche installed them), there were so many discrepencies with respect to various part numbers, software version numbers, and Nav disc numbers it was hard to keep track.

Beyond that, my major gripe and only gripe about the car has always been the rear view mirror and the sunshades. These are relacs from the 986 and do not match the styling of the 987 interior. Everything else is just beautiful. I have enough power, enough exterior styling, enough seating capacity, a fast enough softtop, loud enough stereo, and low enough profile tires on the 19" Carerra S wheels.

Agreed, but these can be changed! I ordered the sport steering wheel-nice! I've ordered the short-shift kit (TBI), and the lowering springs are next! If all of this was already on the car-I would be kinda bored! This gives me a chance to have some "mods" to personalize the car.

Default 6'4" 215

[QUOTE=dmac]I am 6'4" and 255lbs (ex Tight End). No way in the world would my legs fit in the 987 without rubbing the steering wheel. My left foot couldn't work the clutch without hitting the steering wheel.
/QUOTE]
I fit just fine in my Boxster (I'm 6'4+, and 215 pounds) - the seat is all the way lowered, and the pushed back, and I have 2 finger breadths of head height above me till I hit the soft roof. Legs don't seem to be bothered when working the clutch at all.
I can't tell you how happy I was that I fit in the car, when I sat in it the first time in the dealers showroom. The car was sold as soon as I pushed the seat al the way back, and I knew that I fit.
