Default Ordered a 06 Boxster S

I put a deposit down on a 06 Boxster S. I have until mid December to firm up the options to lock in the delivery date. The Boxster is mainly a weekend car plus road trips with no track use planned. Liked the look of the 19" wheels but also liked the ride on the standard 18". Guessing the 18" will be better for longer trips. Didn't consider the Nav because already have a good portable. This is what I have so far. The options certainly do kick the price up quickly.

Basalt Black Metallic
Sand Beige Standard Leather
Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package
Porsche Windstop
18 inch Boxster S wheel
Heated Front Seats
Sport Steering Wheel
Floor mats

Did I miss anything obvious?

The sand beige really shows dirt, scuffs, and everything else that slowly leads you closer to a myocardial infarction one little bit at a time.

I would add sport chrono and sport seats. The changeable engine map to a sport mode is nice. Sport seats add quite a lot of lateral support.

It is a great car. Congrats.

For the use that you described, the options you chose sound great. Enjoy!

Great setup. I love the sport seats, but they do make ingress/egress a little harder without scuffing the seats I don't have Sport Chrono (dealer ordered car) but when I drove cars with and without bacl to back the difference was not as noticeable as in a 997 (or an m3). I would have ordered it for the chrono though since I will track my car.

Sand beige is not that hard to maintain in a mostly weekend car and it looks fantastic with black (esp Basalt) or Guards red.

The sand beige interior will be fine.

Try Black Mats instead. I did that on my '04 C4S Cab (GR/SB/BL) and it works very well. Stunning combo - Basalt/Sand.

I would second the opinion on the Sport Chrono. I wished mine would have had it but I went for one that was already on the lot.

Default Two to add & one maybe

Self dimming mirrors - you'll curse when you realise they're not standard and and you didn't order them.

TPMS - with no spare tire you can get early warnings of tire problems before they become a "Sh*t! Call 1-800-Porker"

Maybe add Bose - it's better than the standard setup

IMHO:
-Sport Chrono package not needed for a weekend car;
-Self-dimming mirrors: My wife's Mercedes has this and I really don't like it (particularly when driving in NYC - you WANT to see everything you can behind you);
-Stereo - from what I've read, the upgrade is not worth the price. Listen to the engine instead!

Regardless of the combo that you choose, you will still enjoy this car better than most any other that you have ever driven/owned....so relax and enjoy!

Hope that helps.

Isnt there a switch to turn off the self dimming mirror?

btw good choice, sport chrono is a good option, but not a must, I like the contrast on the color.
how about memory seat? is that an option on the boxster? are oyu the only driver?

Even though it is going to be a weekend car I'd get the tire pressure monitoring system. With no onboard spare early notice of air pressure loss is pretty important. Also might want to think about the Bose system.

I have the premium sound that comes standard with the 987-S, and have listened to the Bose setup at length. If you don't need your $1000, add the Bose...it is an incremental improvement. Certainly not a must have.

Thanks everyone for the input. I will be the primary driver. My wife will drive occasionally. I'm heading to the dealer this week to check out the sport chrono and sports seats. I will add the tire presure monitoring for sure.

Definitely the Sport Chrono package, I find myself timing everything. The one option that I almost missed was the crests in the headrests. For $295 they really add a special touch to the interior.

Go for the NAV system and Satellite Radio with Multi-Function steering wheel! The radio preset buttons on the standard system are way too small. It's really a pain and it can't be upgraded for XM.
