If Porsche does decide to put LSD into the Cayman let's hope it is not the same weak unit they used in the 993. The factory friction discs, 2, will wear out in no time on the track. I pulled mine and put in a motorsports unit and it made a big improvement, really stable under braking.

The vast majority of Cayman (and 911) drivers will never track their cars - lack of LSD will make very little difference to them, particularly if they have specified SCP to relax PSM a bit. So from an economics point of view it hardly made much sense for Porsche to fit one.
On the track I'd agree LSD would be very nice - needed more than any power upgrade. Hopefully it's something Porsche will consider, once the Cayman brand is established and we get past these Cayman vs 911 comparison articles.

Of course, because deviating stitching costs Porsche nothing and developing an LSD for the Boxster platform wouldn't be trivial. It would also have added fuel to the "is the Cayman better than 911" debate, which hopefully is now starting to die down...
