If I had $230K to spend on a car the manufacturer would be Ferrari. There's no way that I'd spend that kind of money on a car that is nearly identical to a $50K Boxster.

I'm with fast1, I'm sure it drives amazing, but what if it rains? I'm from Washington state originally, and I can't imagine driving a car that isn't at least mostly waterproof.

$230K will buy you two 997 GT3's plus some $$$ left over for upgrades. Although the mechanicals by Ruf are killer ... these type of conversions are more for the gold chain crowd.

Not being able to pop the lid and admire the engine kind of ruins it for me -- I guess I'm just weird that way.

You must be one of those people who say there is no difference between the Boxster and the Cayman.

Read the review - they basically pan it for its styling being too close.

It has 420 hp and does a 4.5 0-60 and 178hp top speed. Not terribly great for a "supercar" in 2005.

To be honest, get tt or Gt2 - and get better car. The only real distinction for this kit car (it is pre-fab kit) is that costs more and will be unique. But, If you actually drive your porsche off the streets,, I think you do not want be a gunnea pig on such a small run. For those who want the bling (that is what this car is) get a Ferrari 430.

as they say in the article:
"But as four-wheeled sculpture, the RK Spyder does not rank high on the pulse-quickening scale like a Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo or Bentley Continental GT. Then again, regular Ruf-engineered cars have always placed the emphasis on what is under the car's skin."
