Saw the Z4 coupe (and the Cayman) in Frankfurt.

The M coupe has no presence and is small and very ugly (10 bagger, in case the other 9 break). I wouldn't waste energy thinking about this car as an alterative to the Cayman (beautiful)

Whatever the intended market of the Z4 coupe it's not going to impact the Cayman (IMO).

The M Coupe could fly to the moon for free and I still wouldn't buy it. It looks like a friggin' cabbage patch doll. I mean, what the hell are they trying to do? BMW could **** the Pope off.
Well said.

Also well said. BMW, IMHO has totally lost it's way. The cars still drive great but the I-drive? What a joke! The styling? Their designs have gone from "funky cool" in the '70's to "tailored and tight" in the '80's and '90's to Bangle bungled clown cars today.

It's a shame, I've owned 6 BMW's in the past but would never consider another unless they succesfully complete (design) rehab.

Can anyone post a picture of the new M coupe? Or does it look the same as the old freaked out looking one?

It actually makes me consider the last M-Coupe as being pretty attractive!

I agree it is not the most graceful design in pictures (then again, neither was the original M-Coupe). Nothing from Bangle's shop is what I would call beautiful these days, but it IS good design--have you noticed how many of the new Lexus, Infiniti, etc. now have elements of Bangle's "flame surfaced designs?"

It will be a fine drive, though, and will likely be at least $8-10k cheaper than Cayman S. Should be fun to run a flyoff between the two...

Keep in mind that the picture above is not the M version. I really didn't care too much for the Z3 Coupe, but always loved the M Coupe. This thing is from what I heard supposed to have over the 333 HP of the M3 and closer to 345-350 HP. With the addition of some tuning, the new M Coupe should have very good handling. While it will never handle on a Cayman S level, it should still be very good. Call me crazy, but the Cayman is not the best looking car. I really think the M Coupe will cut into Cayman sales more than most think...

Really...you think the old M Coupe was better looking?

This car had the latest M3 engine, but I never felt like it was fast. It also had the trailing arm suspension that I considered not to be a very good set up for the track.

The expect the new Z4 M Coupe will be a huge improvement

If that was directed towards me, I was talking about the old Z3 Coupe vs. the old M Coupe. The M Coupe should look good, hopefully it will have wider bodywork like the old M Coupe.

I'm not fond of bangles bungles either, but who could complain about the new M5?

I'll take an E39 M5 any time over the new one. That engine profile doesn't belong in a sport sedan IMO.
