Hi all...
I have to say, I'm totally smitten. I've always thought that the Boxster handles better than the 911 (no flames please), and now, with a solid roof... drool!
Anyway, hate to say it, but judging by the Boxster, 300bhp isn't going to be NEARLY enough power to realise the potential of this car's balance and handling, and as much as I like the idea of an RS, I've become too spoiled to air-con etc to give them up.
So... anyone know, or hear, of any of Alois Ruf's plans for the car? A 400-450bhp Cayman seems just the ticket (especially if I can get them to make the car look stock...) Sounds like the ultimate Q-car...

I'm only really interested in the RUF tuning program. I'm sure the other 'manufacturers' (9ff) and tuners (Techart) are very capable, but the legend of Yellowbird will never die. I have a few friends that have RUFs, and they maintain the Porsche drivability, but with the dial turned firmly to "SCHNELL!"

It is real, Excellence has a whole article about what RUF is doing with the 987 platform. Fairly good read, can't wait till they get a hold of the Cayman.

I spoke with the RUF guys about the Cayman and they are very excited about what they think they can do with it. The Boxster has limited space in the engine compartment for things like a turbo charger, X51 option, etc. The design of the Cayman would allow you to use the space above the stock engine bay and fabricate a new cover over it without changing the overall lines of the car.

So.....can we stuff a V12 in there and just forget about cargo space alltogether? That would make for one wild Cayman!
I'de be really interested to see even a GT3 style engine in there. I'm sure the car is going to fly!

The above RUF is the RK Spyder... only 49 cars will be produced at 420bhp (woah!)...
