Default 986 v 987 interior room

greetings all,

i have a friend who is dying to get a boxster. he's quite large - 6-5, but not overweight - and says that he heard that the 987s are a bit bigger (leg/head room) than the 986. any numbers to back this up?

if there is some difference, he'd go for the 987, but obviously the market opens up quite a bit wider if the 986 is in play.

also - any other hints for mods that help a big man be more comfortable in a boxster?

thanks!

Here are the interior dimensions for the 987 vs 986 (sorry for the formatting, but at least the data is there).

Interior dimensions
Interior length1) Driver’s side mm/in 1,090/42.9.......1,072/42.2
Passenger side mm/in 968/38.1....... 961/37.9
Shoulder room mm/in 1,308/51.5....... 1,308/51.5
Elbow room mm/in 1,355/53.4....... 1,356/53.4
Effective headroom2) mm/in 972/38.3....... 972/38.3

A buddy of mine removed the bottom seat cushion and inserted a thinner pillow, which gives his 6'4" frame adequate room in his 986.

Hope this helps.

987 has good headroom but legroom is a bit too tight (I'm about 6'7").
