Cayman RS
Have anyone heard that Porsche will build a Cayman RS in 2007
It will have a 3.4 l engine with 340HP, lowered suspension and will do 0-100KM in less than 5 sec.
Production is expected to be very low.
Regards,
Sergio

Want a Cayman RS ?? Buy a Cayman S, strip it bare, lower it, and drop in a 3.6 into it. Order it white too so its all ready for the colored vinyl logos. Why does Porsche NEED to build it for ya??

I'd rather spend $10k up front and have it improve the resale value and keep my warranty...

I don't think the Cayman RS will ever be built, and if it is, will never come to the US ala the GT3 RS, etc. so the only hope may be to do what S2 describes at your own peril of course...

BTW, a really nice lo mile RSA is worth over $40k and a nice really nice lo mile C2 is worth $25k (and the RSA cost $10k less when they were new).
I don't know if i would personally buy an RS style car for street use. With that in mind, would a factory RS car still be under full warranty if anything happened because it was used primarily on the track?? A car destined for track time i wouldn't expect to be dependent on warranty. Wear is accelerated and service intervals i would expect to be different than a street car driven around town.
Buying a car and thinking about resale almost doesn't make sense to me. If you bought a Cayman, and turned it to a mean, stripped track car... no, its value would be greatly diminshed to someone searching for a Cayman to drive regularly. However, that same car may fetch the same money or more to someone searching for a prepared car. There are people who like turnkey track cars and are willing to pay for what they are worth. As the saying goes, there is a butt for every seat.

I came across this link showing a picture of the Cayman RS - which was apparently a really good digital effort by a clever 16 year old!

first week this month I was in Germany visiting the Porsche factory and driving a 997 Carrera S.
One of our guides who also works in the factory said to me that they had to detune the Cayman engine because it was cranking 320 hp and at that power it would outrun the 997
