Fifty years of tradition and the best they can do is "Cayman."

Could they have chosen a worse name? What the hell were they thinking?

Geeez guys!!! It's only a name. Big deal! Manufacturers have been naming their cars after animals for YEARS. Once you see this car, it will make a bit more sense to you. The head of the Cayman, and the curves of its eyes actually resembles the shape of the car. Honest.

Paul, did you attend the focus group? If so, care to share any more details? I've been told it's a hatchback.

I'm excited about the car itself. A mid-engined driver's coupe from Porsche? Sounds great! I just wish the name was more in keeping with Porsche tradition. It's a negative, and unecessarily so.

Yes, I was there and it is a hatchback. It's really beautiful, but I don't think it will hurt 911 sales or Boxster sales. It will appeal to the guys that are more concerned with a great performing/handling Porsche at a better price.

Paul -

Did either of the examples have a sunroof? My salesman and I were debating whether it was even possible with the roof/hatchback design.

Hmm..you have a point there. I'm actually starting to get used to the name, even though I still like the name Boxster coupe or GTS. Oh well, just have to deal with it now. Its official.

No, they didn't have a sunroof and I don't think it would look good with one (although I guess it's possible). Plus, I think the whole idea with this car is rigidity, firmness and handling.

Thanks for the info. No doubt about the rigidity and firmness......just curious if it would even be available......

Yikes! LOL! That's harsh! Hey, just because women drive these cars doesn't make them 'feminine'. I see plenty of women driving 911s in Los Angeles and it doesn't threaten MY masculinity. I suppose you think of the Miata as a girl's car too. I guess the Spec Miata SCCA series is a 'hairdresser's' race series. Come to think of it, The only car make I haven't seen a woman drive is a Lamborghini.
