Personally, I think I will wait until its first makeover, or at least until a club version is offered.

I haven't been crazy about Porsche's wheels lately either, so some nice wheels would do wonders for the look too.

Isn't this the car that will finally permit Porsche to quit nursing the rear engined car and come out with a mid-engined 911? Porsche has done all they can do with a dynamically-flawed layout--the rear engined chassis--and now they have a state-of-the-art chassis and a body that with a few tweaks could pass for a "new" 911.
What do you think?

Not that I want Cayman to be called 911, it would be better it’s named 911 something so it won’t be looked down by the “Loyal 911 believers”. Otherwise Porsche will never make much improvement for it because it has to in disadvantage to the “REAL 911” on paper.
As why I think the 911 has been dead since 964– IMHO it’s the styling and driving involvement, to me Porsche had seem to run out of idea and room for the 911 improvement.

I also think they would be wise to make the Carrera III wheels standard as that would help differentiate it from the Boxster and the 997.
I'm just tired of looking at spyshots... I'm ready to see the real thing!

I understand your point now. Regardless, they'll be some die hard 911 guys who look down on the Cayman, no matter how good it is.

Simply naming it 911 is not enough for the purists. It is a different car with a vastly better architecture. Don't get hung up on what the 911 purist say. The Cayman is going to be a great new car for Porsche. I'm really itching to get more details on the CS version.
Porsche needs a pure sportscar that lacks all the comforts and luxury of the recent 996/997. I tuely hope this car delivers the performance goods. I may just need to get on a list for one.
