Question Is this wire important? :)

New to me 987.1 Boxster S.

The trunk light was not installed and was just laying in the trunk so I decided to try to reinstall. The wires were not hanging nearby behind the engine side trunk carpet, so I had to remove the carpet. I found the wires had been trapped under the carpet and one of them was frayed. I wrapped it in electrical tape (I'll do a better repair later) and all good.

However I noticed this other wire had frayed as well. I don't know what it might control. It's in a bundle of 3 or 4 wires (see picture) that go through to the engine bay through a hole and grommet in the trunk/engine bulkhead.

Would anyone know what this bundle is for? I again wrapped it in electrical tape and will do a better fix later. I think it is blue with red stripe.

It probably frayed as the clip that was holding the bundle was not attached and the bundle wasn't secured (or maybe mice).

Thanks in advance!

I don't think you'll find anyone who can tell you what that wire is for.
Follow it, so you'll know what it's for.
Considering this damage to the wires, it's a good idea to check the entire electrical system, especially the wiring around the motor.

Don’t know what it’s for, but would strongly recommend wrapping up any exposed wire strands, so you don’t, at a minimum, short something go out.
