I'm shopping for a second set of wheels for DE/autox in my 987.2. Specifically 18x9 F / 18x10 R, as is recommended and popular per apex and other fitments guides.
I like the retro look of the 996/986 5 spoke wheels and there seem to be quite a few available on ebay with scuffs and scratches (perfect for track wheels). I'm considering getting 18x9 ET52 rear 986 wheels for the front, and 18x10 ET65 rear 996 wheels for the rear with ~20mm spacers. I haven't found any examples of these wheels fitted to a 987.
Of course there are apex and OZ wheels available in these sizes for not much more $, and I think a little less weight... I just like being different. Any experience or recommendations for fitting the porsche wheels?
Side note; I know these wheels take me out of scca street class and into BST, but I'm not trying to be nationally competitive. BST would allow a max 295 on an 11" wheel, but I haven't found any examples of these fitting the rear without fender mods.
I have these exact same wheels - 986 Carrera 5-spokes on my 987.2, they fit fine but the rear offsets are more inwards than stock 987 wheels just slightly.
