Default PLEASE HELP IDENTIFY PART

2007 porsche cayman (base model, 2.7)

I recently got my purge valve, thermostat, AOS, and waterpump changed by a shop. after i got the car back, it threw several codes related to a misfire on cylinder 6 among others. Never had any of these codes before, so was kinda confused. However, I have new coils and spark plugs on the way, + some OEM cats+headers cause I believe mine are failing, but when i opened the engine cover, i saw this unplugged wire which I was confused about.

Is this supposed to plug into anything? when i follow the wire, it’s in the same harness that is with the AOS.

PS: yes i know there’s some liquid on the AOS. some coolant had accidentally spilt near it and I have cleaned it up since.

for anyone interested, the codes i got after getting the car back were:

p2629, p1360, p1371, p0306, p1362.

Symptoms im having: rough idle after driving at higher RPMs. car will eventually shut off. Also misfire code given when driving at high RPMs. Currently not driving the car.

It looks like this connector has been damaged; the wires on the other side are missing.
Check the base of the AOS; you'll likely find some cut wires.
It could be the oxygen sensor connector or the valve lift control connector, see the picture

There are no extra connectors on these harnesses, the fact that you have a completed connector set but no wires to complete that circuit means that something bad has happened to those wires and is likely the cause of your current issues. Somewhere down in your engine bay there is probably a boot with some wires in it, floating around.

Good luck

I found the same thing when removing my AOS a few days ago. Mine is an '07 S. Runs great. Weird.

Investigations continue.

Welp, between the original pictures that I looked at more closely, and what's up above, those sure look like plugs in the mating connector, so I may need to take back my whole "there are no extra plugs on these harnesses" thing. I have a spare harness from a manual car that I can take a look at if you think it would be helpful.

Given all that, I'd lay a nickel on a vacuum leak for the OP.

Good luck
