Default Brake pad pucks were stuck in calipers

I was annoyed that a few of my Cayman's front brake pistons had the little pucks from the anti-vibration pads seized in them. I was ready to just order new pistons when I figured I'd try to pull them out. They were very seized.

Soaked with penetrating oil. WD40 may not be the best, but it's all I had on hand. I filled the whole piston up and let it soak.

A socket and bolt and some washers.

It's coming.

A little more.

And it's out. I was surprised these things are heavier duty than I was expecting. I thought they might just just strip out the threads, but they are very strong.

Now two more to go and put everything back together.

Very clever. And very patient. I had a couple that needed a bit of ‘persuasion’ to come out but not quite as stubborn. Well done!

Did you replace them or say f’ that?

Are you going to reuse the piston seals and dust guards or buy new ones?

I just reused the original seals when I reinstalled the pistons. I didn't remove the pressure seals out of the calipers, and the dust seals came out without damage. If it was a track car I definetly would have replaced them, but I saw no need for this car.

And no, I'm not using those vibration pads any longer. If I ever do, I'll smear them with anitseize.
