Default Instrument Cluster & Real Control Module Programming

I've got a 2006 Boxster 987 2.7 5 speed. Got the car from auction and the rear control module was toast. Replaced it with the exact same unit and I'm getting ready to have that programmed by a local shop. My question is if the instrument cluster is any way related to that module? The digital display i.e. where you check your oil is blank, just a few random pixels. I'm planning on getting a used cluster and installing that and getting it programmed also, but before I do I wanted to check if that cluster may come back to life when the RCM is reprogrammed?

Any suggestions on a tool like the Foxwell NT530 to do this at home? My only concern is that many have posted that the NT530 unit does not have a file for the 987. Is there a Foxwell unit that will do it? Durametric, is that the best choice to do this at home?

Thanks in advance.
