Default TPMS on a 06 Cayman S, can I add them?

If I buy a good set of TPMS sending units, the correct frequency for Porsche of course, will the TPMS start working in the computer? Or is there something special I have to do?

It should if you select it in the sub menu. Here is a video on how to.

I just bought some TMPS sensors from AliExpress and am hoping to install them tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes if you are interested.

Yes, please do! I just checked and my 06 Cayman S does NOT have the factory TPMS module installed. see here: https://rennlist.com/forums/987-foru...-cayman-s.html

Here's where the TPMS box is (or not in my case):

Oh, mine is a 2010 with factory TPMS. I don't think I will be of much help then.

... another option is adding a navi with TPMS capability.
Such as the Atoto S8:

You can use a Durametric Pro to enable or disable TPMS. Outside of the US, TPMS was a standalone option. It's just a matter of hooking up the proper device and checking a few boxes. I went the opposite direction... disabled TPMS on my 2012 Cayman R because it's annoying and costly if you swap wheels often like I do.
