I feel I need some sort of Diagnostic tool for my, new to me, 2006 Caymen S 987.1 (“Warmed over” M97 engine with Softronics Tune)
I plan on keeping the car long term, and would like to do as much maintenance and repair on it as I can myself.
I’m not likely to do anything too dramatic, but would like to:
1. Turn off the PASM for brake bleeding purposes. Reading the forum, this is not generally required for a minor bleed, or if careful not to lose much oil from the lines. I plan on rebuilding my calipers at some point, and adding braided lines. The same thread cast severe doubt about the Schwaben Pro Scan Tool or the Durametric's Diagnostic Tool (scathing comments on the customer service as well)
2. I want to turn off the Auto door lock. - condition “Type 4” in the manual
3. I’m replacing the window regulator - not sure if some sort of reset/alignment is required. The European specialist next door is hoping his “Snap On” OBDII might do it.
4 Regular diagnostics/resetting.
Due the doubt about 2 options mentioned above, I should go the after market PWIS system?
I don’t understand much about this system, or what the best (easiest to use/update, and most reliable) option is. Being in Australia, adds to the issues. (Distance and shipping)

I can only tell you that for #3, after you are done, close the door and lower the window, then keep holding the switch for a few seconds. Do the same after raising. That will trigger the system to relearn the endpoints.
I'm an advocate for the Foxwell products, you can check per vehicle/system or per product here - https://www.foxwelltech.us/support-fun-list.html
Coding and actuaction does get you into the more expensive ones, if you just want a car specific and basic read/resetting of systems you can get a lot of functionallity for relatively little cost.
I would have thought any Snap On diagnostic would do pretty much anything you needed being a professional tool, I know the Foxwell GT90 Laptop Edition hasn't disappointed me at whatever I needed to do.
I've also heard good things about the Autel products for Porsches, it really depends how much you want to spend but I found being able to definitavely check what I would be able to do swung it for me and the Foxwell.

Had great luck with the foxwell nt-530 bleeding the brakes on a 987.2 Cayman S after a master cylinder upgrade. It has a “procedure” it leads you through for each corner. Even with a power bleeder the pedal was soft after multiple bleeds. The ABS bleed with the nt-530 got a bunch of foam out of the front right, which cleared up the pedal issue…..
