987 Window Drop/Return Issue
Greetings All - New Porsche 987s owner '05 w/ 34,000 miles. - black beauty. Interesting issue with the window motion I thought I would share:
1. Open the door from the outside - window drops as expected.
2. Release the outside handle with door open - window returns up. So at this point, closing the door will result in the window hitting the frame.
3. I sit down, pull the inside handle - window drops correctly - if I let go of the handle the window returns up.
4. If I pull the door closed gently with the handle in the open position - door closes lightly on the frame and pops back open (because I have the handle in the open position) - dash lights up and window remains down when I release the door handle, and now I can safely close the door without concern the window will hit the frame.
Curious to me is the dash lights-up when the door bounces off the frame, resulting in the window beginning to work properly. Should the dash light-up when the door is opened from the outside? Other thoughts?
Peace,
Dave

Think this is due to a micro switch in the door lock mechanism thinking the door is always closed.
Had similar.
Have a google though, as I think the lock from a VW Golf of the same year fits. And is 10% of the price.

Thanks for the reply Bibbs. I saw a video explain that if the window drops at all, which mine does, when the door handle is opened, then the micro switch is working. I feel it is like the circuit is not latching. Is there a latching relay in the circuit that is triggered by the micro switch?

I've had this open in my browser for a long time; it's something I'm going to have to do, as well.
Good luck

I tried to pull the lock out and managed to destroy the regulator at the same time. So I packed it up and dropped it off to my garage. They did the lock and regulator.
Unfortunately, it's not the easy microswitch on the back of the door card, it's the the latch microswitch attached to the handle and it's a pain in the dick. You'll need contort your wrist with a ratcheting 10mm wrench to remove the unit from the door handle structure, then free the linkage, and unplug the unit. Getting the linkage back into the switch and properly adjusted is brutal.
This is the part, depending on which side.
