Angry speed alarm

I'm Bart and I live in Belgium; in Europe. I bought a 2011 Cayman 2.9 which is from Dubai. A very annoying item is an alarm (such as for the seat belt) that starts when you drive more than 120 km / h and stops below 115. It is not the alarm that you can set manually via the menu; it seems programmed. Is that mandatory in Dubai? Anyone have any idea how I can override or disable it?
I also posted this on the Middle East forum.

Regards, Bart

Not sure this is the same. I have a North American 2011 Boxster which has a speed warning bell. You can set it for any speed using the manual lever for dash options/check oil etc. This alarm can be turned off. Hope this helps.

Yes, I know an alarm can be set in the menu but this seems something different. Thanks for your reply.

I owned five cars in Dubai and they all did this. Never got around to disabling them myself but if you post on some UAE enthusiast site or ring Al Naboodah service department someone is bound to know the fix.

Thanks. Al Naboodah can only be contacted by phone, no email on the website. The UAE Enthusiast replied that the alarm is standard in UAE and can be switched off by PIWIS or loading software from europe.

There must be an option for this that can be accessed via PIWIS or Durametric Pro. I have no idea what that option would be or how to turn it off but I'm betting an expert with either of these diagnostic systems could do it for you.

I was able to disable daytime running lights (DRL) which are a requirement in some places like Canada, with Foxwell. I wonder if a Foxwell or Durametric could similarly disable the mandatory speed alarm for UAE.

It can only be disable using either Durametric or Piwis. Next time the car is in your nearest OPC for a service, ask them to turn it off.

Driven a few cars in the Middle East and they all do this. It's annoying.

i'll bet if you can find the actual device that is making the noise (it might even be on a circuit board somewhere), it can be intentionally broken in some way as to make no noise yet not show up as a warning on your instrument cluster.. of course, it might also make noises for things you may want.

i know that if i could disable mine, i would. but fortunately, it doesn't go off all that often.

The problem is solved. My local 'porsche' garage disabled it with PIWIS.
