Default Trying to replace stock radio

Hi. First post. I recently bought a 2007 Cayman. Base model. It has the stock Porsche radio. AM, FM, CD. Looking to get a modern radio but without tearing into the dash no one can tell me whether it needs a fiber optic cable or not. Can someone hear tell me whether it needs one or not, before a technician has to actually take the radio out? No Bose stereo BTW.

I'm not exactly sure, but I believe if you do not have the Bose option, the Head Unit is not connected to the amp via a fiber optic link.

That’s my understanding as well.

If it’s not a Bose system, you can swap the stereo out pretty easily. You’ll want a kit to replace the bezel and give you the brackets to mount it in the dash, along with dealing with the wiring. Otherwise, it’s a pretty straightforward. I put an Atoto in mine that’s worked out well. The speakers were mostly decomposed, so I swapped them all out and then stuffed a powered sub under the passenger seat.

Full fidelity and sound, even with the top down.

If you have the door cards out for the speakers, this is a great time put some noise control layering in the doors, and ensure that the environment inside is conducive to hearing your music, it really helped in my case and highway drives are far more comfortable. Still get plenty of That Sound.
