Hi All
i have a 2006 boxster with multiple comfort modules no comms.
WP0ZZZ98Z7U720730 .
the rear spoiler has stayed up , soft top roof not working and engine cooling fan running . Vehicle does start and drive .
work done so far .
have done a global scan and cleared faults . Lots of comms faults return straight away .
have checked for water ingress under carpets and in kick panels . No water found .
removed seat and checked can bus signal at rear control unit module . Can bus signal faulty . Have disconnected both doors and instrument cluster but can signal on scope still poor .
do any of you have any pointers on this fault or where to look next . Thanks in advance.
regards Simon
As you know, the areultiple CAN busses in this car. The gateway module routes messageg from one bus to another.
I would start by disconnecing all modules from the comfort bus make sure the gateway is not spamming the bus with noise, then add modules bqck on at a time.
thanks for your replies , not 100% sure on how many bus networks are on this car ?
i was just going off fault code in instrument cluster that listed the rear module as comfort ?
need to try and find a can bus schematic diagram for the bus networks .
is the gateway module under the dash ?
thanks again
Is the car stock? In many cases, for example, people have removed the stock radio with an aftermarket one, so you end up getting multiple errors for that, alone. My car has this situation. But the other modules should work... rear is particularly important since it handles the roof, rear spoiler, etc.
Common problem with the rear module is that it gets wet and shorts out (it's under the passenger seat). That could be a separate cause for failure, but it could be related. For example, if it's really messed up, it could be shorting out the CANbus wires, causing a loss of all communications on that section of the bus. @jscott82 's recommendation makes sense - start with disconnecting the modules and see if you can add them in one at a time...

Sorry was at the track this weekend and did not have the manual with me...
I was mistaken, there is no "body" bus... I could have sworn there was... You are correct, the rear module is on the "comfort" bus.
Here is the pinout of the gateway module, that shows the various buses and their color codes. Each bus is a twisted pair.
The gateway is accessed left side of the frunk. Under the cowl you will see a plastic cover under the windshield wiper motor.
