Default Sport Chrono Gauge Backlight

I rarely drive my Boxster at night and just noticed a few weeks ago that the Sport Chrono Gauge ("Wart") was dim. Is that supposed to be lit up when the lights are on, as in, is there backlighting on that gauge?

I drove my 997 a few nights ago and can confirm that the wart only lights up when active. It is independent of the headlight status

Thanks. Active meaning the Sport button is on or do you have to enable the lap timer with the steering wheel stalk for the the gauge to be lit up?

The steering wheel stalk is the key.
