Default Help w/ Tire Sizes for my 987.1

I know tire sizes is a topic of hot debate, like what type of oil to use. Im just looking for middle of the road, practical guidance.

my 987.1s needs new tires. It’s a street car — I’ve never tracked (yet), and probably plan to track it once or twice a year. Nothing major. 90% of the time it will be spirited driving on roads.

I have 19” HRE’s. What I’m unsure of is what aspect ratio to go with for the fronts and backs. The options are:

Front
  1. 235/35/19
  2. 245/35/19
  3. something else?

Back
  1. 295/30/19
  2. 295/35/19
  3. 305/35/19
  4. 305/30/19

right now I’m leaning towards 245/35/19 in the front and 305/35/19 in the rear. Any reason I should go with a 30 aspect ratio on the rear, or will 305/35/19 do the trick?

Part of it depends on the width of your wheels. I would say, try to keep the fronts and rears with 20 or 30 mm of each other. I'm currently running 245/40/18 and 275/40/18 on my 2006 Cayman S. It feels pretty good. From the factory the difference is 30 mm in width. That feels like about the right difference. I think that Porsche knows how to set up the car to handle well.

I have also heard, though some people have said that it didn't cause issue. That it is a good idea to make sure that the diameter " height" of the rear tire is more than the front tire. It is said that it can cause the ABS system to act up if the rear tire is shorter.

I have a set of sticky autocross tires on the way and am planning on running 255/35/19 front, and 285/35/19 rear. From what I have heard, 295 is about the limit for the rear of a 987.

Thanks.

From what I'm hearing, my current set-up is robbing performance from the car. The PO put 19x11" wheels on the back but with a 285/30/19 tire. My fronts are 235/35/19. Apparently that's not right.
