Default Transmission issue

Need some help. Just bought my 2006 Cayman S last week. 95k miles. At about 2000 Rpm area steady, the rpms surge up slightly. It will keep doing this over and over with steady throttle at 2000 rpm area. It shifts fine in manual mode and cant feel this, its almost as if the transmission is slipping but I feel it may be more like torque converter locking and unlocking possibly... It drives me nuts. The previous owner told me he only drove in Manual with the triptronic... I see why now. I feel he wasn't up front about this issue. He told me "you cant drive it like a Camry". Does this sound like torque converter issue? I feel it seems to be in 4th or 5th gear when it is happening.
