Default catalytic converter gasket

Morning all,
Recently purchased a used exhaust; the seller said he would include the synthetic gaskets that came with it but suggested using OEM gaskets instead. The size of the OEM gasket seems odd with one of the 3 sides wider. When I line it up there is overhang; is this right?

i would be concerned that the diameter of the center holes on the two gaskets are not equal. hopefully one of them is correct. overhang on the gasket on the right would concern me too. it looks to be made to fit something with an exacting tolerance that is lacking in the one on the right.

Use the correct, original Porsche gasket, the one on the right in your photo. If it protrudes a bit, not a problem. The important thing is that the raised circle sits on the two flanges. Clean up the flanges before installing, with a wire brush or something along those lines. They don't have to be spotless, but you want to avoid crud interfering with the seal. Good luck!

Hello, the one on the right was the oem style on my 08 Cayman. Yes, two thin and one thicker side. Line it up and it will make sense. I would use oem instead of the aftermarket if given the choice.

Good luck

didn't know the one on the right was OEM....

anyway, it looks like the one on the right has an integrated crush ring. if so, it looks like it might have already been used once in that the crush ring looks like it has already been crushed at and around the three bolt holes only. and if the exhaust you are using is not OEM, then, IME, there's little reason to think it should fit with an OEM gasket.

Use oem. I have Fabspeed Catless race headers and I swap between 3 different mufflers depending on track, oem, tracktec, and super cup.

I use and reuse the oem gasket. No issue.
