The CDR-30 unit in my 2012 Cayman R started to act up in weird way. At times the screen gets so bright I can't read the LCD. I haven't been able to find a way to manually adjust the brightness. I assume there is a sensor for auto diming and auto brightness. The problem comes and goes seemingly at random. Sometimes switching the ignition on and off does the trick, sometimes not. Has anyone had this happen and/or knows how to fix?

I encountered this issue this summer. I fixed it by disconnecting/reconnecting the battery and it has not happened since.

some cars have a variable intensity lighting feature for LCD type screens. if they are driven by a light sensor, i suppose it's possible that it could be malfunctioning or possibly even being obstructed from light by an object. i know my cheap cell phone LCD has one. ...this is just a WAG.
