P2189 Question

So a couple days ago I got a P2189 code and it claimed "bank 2 too lean at idle" - didnt think much of it at the time, and cleared it. About 50 or so miles of driving later it came back on. Okay so clearly something going on here. After some research I've read that it can be a loose oil cap. Go outside, come to find out the oil cap was about an eigth of a turn loose. Moreso it was tight but the oil picture on the cap was slightly cockeyed, so took the oil cap off completely and re-tightened it until I got the little "click"
My question is, could this be the issue? From the research Ive done it seems that if its a loose oil cap that it will throw 2 codes, both banks lean at idle, Im wondering could it be that the cap caused just the 2189 code or should I look into it a little more? Ive read it could be a faulty O2 sensor, but I havent been able to find out which one going bad would throw that code, front or back?
Any input is greatly appreciated !

if i understood your original post. you 1) noticed a code, then 2) cleared it, then 3) drove the car and it came back, and then 4) you noticed your cap was loose, and then 5) tightened it.
so yes, the next step would be to clear the code, drive the car and see if your tightening of the cap prevents the code from coming back. good luck.

So, I had the car scanned with my mechanics bigger scanner and turns out that it indeed is pulling both the P2189, AND P2187. So, should I be thinking more oil cap?
I tightened oil cap and wanted to see after a couple cycles if the CEL would clear itself, and it hasn't, and also wanted to keep the code up for the mechanic to hook his scanner up to it. Come to find out it pulled both codes. I did read that these codes can come up when the AOS is going bad, but Im not having any smoking issues so I don't think this would be the case. What do you guys think ?

I got a smoke machine on the intake/vacc system and turns out the housing to the AOS was actually leaking. I replaced the AOS, and once I took out the old one I took it apart and saw that the baffle was actually torn as well. Once the AOS was replaced the car ran much better, codes have yet to come back. Just battling a P2097 "rich post catalyst" code now, but seems to have done the job.
