Default Recent 987.2 Boxster Purchase

Bought a base 2010 987.2 boxster, PDK with 85k miles for about $27k for DD. The car drives great. Everything works but I think the front bumper was replaced and painted.
I have been lurking for a Carrera white with beige interior Boxster for some time. Pulled the trigger as soon as I saw it. Car serviced extensively at Porsche dealership until 70k miles (spark plug and belt changed twice, plus annual oil changes).

Am I overpaying for a high-mileage car right now in this crazy market? Should I wait? It seems to me that I can get a 981 for 40k with less than 45k miles (not wanting to pay over ~40k).
I also own a 991.1 CS so I am not in a rush.

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, Porsche prices are up, and then they are WAY up, then they are just up, and then....... It's really hard to get a good fix on what's the going rate because it's so volatile.

Asking price has to be ridiculous before you can spot it for what it is.

You might want to check the market before you make any decision based on this assumption.

Yes 987.2 prices are higher than 981 because less were made.

Again, you might want to check the market before making a decision based on this assumption.

I don't think this is true right now. My crystal ball though says to me that in 10 years 987.2 will overtake 981's in price. In the long run I think people will really come to appreciate the totally unique, sensual, curvatious lines of the 987 and the rawer, simpler, driving experience. Won't do me much good though as I plan on keeping my 987.2 6MT Cayman for life and passing it down to my son, should he want it, if not then hopefully I've got some grandkids who were good to me.

My 2011 Cayman base value has increased tremendously since the purchase even though I've added 30,000 miles to it. I took out a car equity loan at 2.5 percent.

Check the market and be very patient. I found mine after 2 years and got what I think is a pretty good deal on a 2011 with 28,000 miles it's a base no no no no but it's got navigation a lot of extras. I paid 31900 which is what he is asking. I had to travel to pick it up but it was worth it. It's only a 287.2 Base but it's plenty fast enough

It might be a "Base", but it's a Base PORSCHE.

It's all Porsche. To the bone. And yours is a beauty.

Seems like you got the color combo you wanted for, more or less, market rate for a well serviced car. You *could* get something cheaper but the chances you get it considerably cheaper in the exact color combo you want is not very good.

Decided to return the car to hunt for a lower mileage Boxster. Had a friend ran some auction figures and it showed pricing at sub-$18k with this mileage. Carvana’s online trade-in quote for this spec priced out to $14k. To be honest, I love the car but the idea that I’m taking a $10k loss right off the bat gave me a good reason to move on.
